1622 smart electricity meters will be installed in 4 regions of the country. After the tender with a limited fund of 120 million lek developed at the end of last year, the Distribution System Operator has concluded the contract that paves the way for investment, while according to OSHEE the benefits will be two-way, both for the company and for subscribers.
This is because the smart meter realizes correct and high-quality consumption billing, as well as follows in real time the flow of kilowatts in the electricity network. Meanwhile, consumers can check consumption progress and billing in real time. Problems that may arise from any defect are identified and quickly resolved.
The new meters will be installed in the electric cabins and to the subscribers of the regions: Durrës, Shkodër, Lezhë and Vlorë. The first meters were placed in the area of Kashari and Vora, an important part of the Tirana region, where many businesses are concentrated.
After the installation of 3500 smart meters in these two areas, the reduction in the level of losses resulted in 7.5%, which is the required standard. Meanwhile, this paved the way for the implementation of the strategic plan for investments in measurement systems through the use of innovative technology.
