The whole country experienced a real energy “black out” at noon this Friday, as a result of a fault in the interconnection line with Greece.

Reports of power outages came from some areas of the capital, but such a problem was spread throughout Albania.

Cities such as Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Korça, Kukësi, Vlora, Lushnja, Fieri and Berati were in a power outage for a few minutes. In Tirana, electricity supply was guaranteed only after a 30-minute interruption. Meanwhile, it was accompanied by numerous problems, from defects in electrical appliances to elevator jams in high-rise buildings, causing many citizens to get stuck inside for minutes.

OSHEE has not made any announcement about the sudden power outage across the country. Such a voltage fluctuation increases the risk of damaging electrical appliances. Many family and business subscribers have constantly complained about voltage fluctuations these hot days.

OSHEE published a post yesterday, where it announced that the lights would go out in some areas in Tirana, while what happened went beyond the capital. The power outage did not leave the state institutions untouched either. The Constitutional Court interrupted the session where the mandate of Olta Xhaçka was being considered, to then restart the meeting with the restoration of energy.
